U.S. DS-3 Lines

This cart shows the number of lines at DS-3 speeds and above installed by the U.S. RBOCs. The data from the FCC ARMIS database has been rationalized by Larribeau Associates.

The need for high-speed Internet connections generated a big increase in the installation of private lines at DS-3 speeds and above in the 1997 through 2000 period. Growth continues strong since then but the rate of growth has slackened some, especially in BellSouth's territory.
